SOMEBODY'S WAITING FOR YOU

Taken from my upcoming book, this motivation is dedicated to the sisters who attended the April 2022 Million Dreams: Goal Setting/Vision Casting Luncheon conducted by Michelle Mancha of Unapologetically Pink Solutions, LLC who also serves as Director of Strategy and Success for Charity for Life Ministries.

Despite my ongoing request to experience God in new ways, presented the opportunity I froze and was tardy in my response when given the opportunity.  During this incident, I learned desire and faith must be accompanied by trust.  Proverbs 3: 5- 6 gives witness to this exhortation “Trust in the Lord with all our heart; and lean not to our own understanding; in all our ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” (NIV)  And, Hebrews 3:15 encourages, "…Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in rebellion." (NIV) After a week of contemplating how wide I would stretch my faith and territory, I cast my trust on God and parted my fear on both sides of Hollis Street in Emeryville CA, and drove to the homeless shelter to go pick up a stranger to live in my home with me.  From Euclid Street in Oakland CA to the end of Hollis, I negotiated with God and rehearsed the conversation I would have with my prospective roommate.  The Holy Spirit pressed me to move into areas of faith that increased my trust in our relationship causing me to grow and go for it.  “This gospel unveils a continual revelation of God's righteousness - a perfect righteousness given to us when we believe. And it moves us from receiving life through faith, to the power of living by faith. This is what the scripture means when it says: “We are right with God through life-giving faith!”(Romans 1:17 NIV)  I decided, once again, to take a chance on trusting Him in new areas of my faith.

Thrusting forward means abandoning that lackadaisical spirit or sluggard disposition.  They are a couple of thieves that steal from our go-get-it attitude of achieving our goals, ideas, dreams, or visions.  We apply power, energy, and urgency to our movement when we propel forward.  Someone is waiting for what we have to offer, just like my friend from the homeless shelter.  For five days, I procrastinated while she was sleeping and eating in a once airplane hangar.  For five days, I froze because of doubt, distrust, and fear.  I doubted that God was really talking to me, I distrusted my faith, and I feared I would be rejected.  Thrusting forward has no room for second-guessing – especially when you believe you are hearing from God to join Him in His mission.  We are here to serve others, and it is God’s responsibility to protect us while we are doing it.  My delayed response to God telling me to go pick up my new roommate also delayed her relief and the beginning of her new life.  Soon, you will be able to read about the amazing things that God did in this woman's life once I obeyed.
